Chrissy Payne Charged in Attempted Kidnapping of 4-Year-Old in Crown Heights
A Brooklyn woman has been arrested and charged after police say she attempted to take a 4-year-old boy outside a McDonald’s in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
Police identified the woman as Chrissy Payne, 47, of Brooklyn. She was arrested Friday night and charged with attempted kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the NYPD and ABC7 New York.
The incident happened earlier in the week outside the McDonald’s at 1133 Eastern Parkway, according to News 12. Police allege Payne approached the child and attempted to take him across the street.
The child’s grandmother was watching him at the time. His mother, who is a New York City police officer, was also nearby and intervened, according to ABC7.
The boy was not physically injured in the incident, authorities said. His mother told CBS New York that the child was shaken by what happened.
Police had previously released images of the woman and asked the public for help identifying her after the attempted abduction was reported. She was subsequently taken into custody.
Payne now faces the two criminal charges as the case proceeds. The allegations have not been proven in court.
