Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has died at the age of 27.
Gerber died Sunday, September 20, at a rehabilitation facility in California, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. His death was also confirmed by a representative for his family.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said responding paramedics pronounced Gerber dead at 9:45 a.m. The Santa Monica Police Department is investigating, and officials said the investigation remains ongoing with limited information available.
An official cause of death has not yet been released. An examination, including toxicology testing, is expected to help determine the cause.
TMZ has reported that sources believe Gerber suffered a suspected overdose while living at the rehabilitation facility. That information has not been confirmed as the official cause of death by the Medical Examiner.
Gerber was the only son of Crawford and Rande Gerber and the older brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber. He began modeling as a teenager and worked with major fashion brands including Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana and Moschino.
In recent years, Gerber had spoken publicly about his struggles with mental health and addiction and shared aspects of his recovery journey.
His family has asked for privacy following his death.
“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” a representative said.
